There were tears from some, sadness from many as we all said goodbye to those at our Service Sites. Tonight in youth group devotion we heard about what the students are afraid of in leaving this week where their time was spent serving, focusing on faith, and surrounded by those who support them. Each of us shared our concerns and then were challenged to think of ways we could tangibly apply the skills and experiences we had this week when we return to our day-to-day routines. As a group the students stepped out of their comfort zones and in doing so grew closer to one another in shared experiences. It was a week filled with high’s, low’s, and average’s - all contributing to the realities of serving with others in a setting such as this. We will finish our evening here and then load up in the morning and head for a day of debriefing, but for tonight our students head to bed tired but joyful after a week of serving those here in Greeley.
Tonight’s reflection comes from Dheenu:
"Today was a hot and sweaty day with many surprises. Most of us were filling water gallons again but some of us got to go give out food. It is partially sad though because we will never get to see them again. After we came back, we had our service and devotions. One of the best parts of the day was the dance party. We all synchronized to the dance moves and had a blast."
- Dheenu Bachu
As we begin to transition from this place please keep our students in your thoughts and prayers. We pray this will not be an experience solely felt here but that they find small but realistic ways of taking the lessons learned here and applying them at home, growing further in their journeys as disciples.
Goodnight from Greeley!
Amen there.
